Of course the Africa Knowledge Initiative project aims to cover a lot as regards the knowledge gap about Africa on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. It’s aimed at equipping the narrative changers all over Africa towards documenting Africa on the internet. I can go on and on about the amazing initiative. How about you join us on 19th August during the Africa Knowledge Initiative Office Hour? I’ll share more details here as the time approaches.
For me, the Wiki Loves Monuments session with Ciell and Krishna was quite interesting! Very detailed information was shared during the section on how local communities can participate in the int’l campaign.
My favorite sessions for today’s WIKIMANIA 1.Digital Conservation through knowledge sharing 2. Getting started with organising Wiki Loves Monuments 3. 4. Wikimedia Sound Logo Production Masterclass 5. Crisis and GLAM

A Regional or Thematic Hub? Help us decide!
Hello, Wikimedians in West Africa!
You are invited to partake in an ongoing research being organized by the Twi Community by responding to and sharing a survey on Initiative 25: Regional and thematic hubs in West Africa. Your responses will be of the utmost importance to us in conducting this research.
The primary goal of this survey is to help us understand;
What African volunteers in West Africa think of hubs?
What obstacles these hubs in West Africa can address?
The survey will also help us understand the perspectives of communities in West Africa as well as provide a description of how a hub should be set up.
It takes about 5 minutes to complete the survey. Below is a link to the survey. Thank you for your help.
Thank @Mwintirew I’ve filled out the survey. I’m happy that the Twi community has kick-started the process; thank you. I feel a regional hub will help us collaborate better on capacity building and knowledge etc.
@Tochiprecious, I’m glad you participated in the survey. Thank you for taking the time to do that. Please forward the survey link to other members in your community so they can participate as well. Thank you once again.
Interested in knowing more if a candidate’s position on certain issue is similar to yours? You can try out the election compass and use it as a reference!
@Mwintirew all what you have highlighted in the post is very true. Most volunteers do not edit after an event due to reasons best known to them. I also think the introduction of monthly contests and events would help in the increase of edits by new and experienced volunteers. And also provision of data allowances is also a way to motivate them to edit because of high cost of data.
