Wikimedia Accelerator UNLOCK | Projects' mid-term results

Wikimedia Accelerator UNLOCK is a tailor-made program supporting open source software projects and non-technical projects under free licenses. The program is committed to promoting solutions that make the world’s knowledge more diverse, more accessible and inclusive for everyone. Within the accelerator, project teams have mentors, experts, access to impactful communities, opportunities to gain new skills that will help start their journey and financial support.

The third edition of Wikimedia’s Accelerator UNLOCK is all about collaboration and cross-regional exchange. Wikimedia Deutschland has teamed up with Wikimedia Serbia and Impact Hub Belgrade to jointly design and host the program in 2022: UNLOCK Germany x Western Balkans!

At the start of the year we selected seven promising teams to join the third edition of the Wikimedia Accelerator UNLOCK and to turn their ideas for Free Knowledge into working prototypes. So far we had the kick-off event and Sprint #1, where participants had the chance to learn from one another, to gain new skills and experience, but also to follow and share their progress. In between these events, teams worked with mentors and had check-in meetings in order to track the results and work on their prototypes.

Recently we marked half time for the 2022 edition. To mark this occasion the participating teams presented their mid-term results and even demoed first mockups.

We asked each team to reflect on Sprint #1 and share with us their main activities and challenges. You can take a closer look at their achievements thus far within a diff blog post. Feel free to comment and give suggestions that can be used to improve their work.

Next week we’re hosting Sprint #2 on September 29th and 30th, which will be the last event before the Demo Day.
