Monthly Report of Forum Activity

Hi and happy new month of August to all,

This report covers the period from 01 April to 31 July. The reporting for these months was delayed due to issues accessing some comparator data for the regional distribution of users.

As of August 1st 2023, the Forum had a total of 840 users. 93 were “active” in April, of which 77% (or 72 users) were not from the Wikimedia Foundation. 97 were “active” in May, of which 77% (or 75 users) were not from the Foundation. 43 were “active” in June, of which 69% (or 30 users) were not from the Foundation and 75 were “active” in July of which 76 % (or 57 users) were not from the Foundation.

“Active users” as defined by Discourse is “all users who visited and read at least one topic in the given time interval.”

The number of users who create new topics in April is 10 of which 6 are Foundation staff. In May, 14 users created new topics, including 2 Foundation staff and 1 affiliate staff. In June, 3 users created new topics including 1 affiliate staff and in July, 28 users created new topics, including 10 Foundation staff and 2 affiliates staff.

The graph below compares the # of users from June 2022 onwards (June 2022 is the first full month we have data for).

  • New Users:
    • April 2023: 22 (incl. 2 Foundation staff)
    • May 2023: 18 (incl. 3 Foundation staff)
    • June 2023: 1
    • July 2023: 11 (incl. 2 Foundation staff)
  • Daily Engaged Users (5 average): average number of users per month who have posted or reacted to a post from April to July
  • New Contributors (11 total): Number of users who posted for the first time between April and July

The graph below breaks down the interface language preferences of Forum users. Of the 308 active users from April to July, there were 24 different interface languages in their user preferences.

The percentages are based on the total number of registered users, active or not. As of July 1st, the total number of registered users was 838. Learn more about trust levels here.

The graph below is a compilation of pageviews from anonymous users (people who aren’t logged in) and logged in users.

The Top list is calculated by the forum software based on likes to the first post, likes to the rest of comments, number of replies and number of views (more).
