ESEAP friends, would the UCoC Enforcement Guideline work well for your community?

EN: Earlier this year, the Universal Code of Code Enforcement Guidelines went through the community voting phase. There were quite some eligible voters from ESEAP communities - such as Vietnamese Wikipedia, Thai Wikipedia, to name a few - but many eligible voters did not participate the community voting. Very curious to learn your thoughts on the UCoC and the Enforcement Guideline, particularly if you are from these communities

Do you think the current text of the Enforcement guidelines would work well for your community? When you think about the culture and context of your community, does the guidelines make sense to you? If there are issues, what are the issues that you see?

Highlighting a few areas in the below for your feedback:

  • Training: do you think training about the UCoC should be mandatory for certain groups? Who should receive these training? What format should the training take?

  • Affirmation: should users with advanced rights be asked to affirm they will adhere to the UCoC? What form should these acknowledgements take?

  • Right to be hard: do users always have a right to be heard? In what situations could a sanction be placed without input from the accused?

The revision committee is having revision discussions and is welcoming feedback and suggestions at the moment.

Hi @AppleRingo777, thanks so much for sharing your view here! Just writing to confirm with you that I have took note of your feedback for the revision discussion - and we can continue having discussions on the situation relating to the Jawiki. As you have seen in the newly shared UCoC timeline, the conversation of the current revisions will continue for the next few months.

Regarding what other communities in ESEAP think about affirmation, some thoughts and ideas were mentioned in this discussion by some ZH community members.
