What is the medium-term plan for archiving discussions from WM Space and categorizing them alongside other related conversations? Ideally discourse threads would have wiki-categories [just like essays on a wiki] and there would be lenses that showed all such pages across different sites and tools.
In the meantime, are there discussions from the Movement Topics channel on the old Space that are worth migrating here and revisiting?
Wikimedia Developer Support was archived via a HTML snapshot (pretty minimalistic, but then there wasn’t a ton of interest in the site in the first place); I was planning to do that for Space if ⚓ T298432 Discourse needs to be migrated to Buster turns out to bee too hard. Good point about some of the Space content being in-scope here, though.
This is an interesting idea. Technically, the simplest approach probably is to copy all the content here in one go, but in some kind of view-only archive with lowest priority for search results (so that it doesn’t interfere with the MS Forum proper). Then, people could request the recovery of topics just like @Sj i suggesting here.
Something to be considered is what happens with posts whose authors haven´t logged in to MS Forum, and therefore lack an account here (but at the same time their account is just a click away thanks to Wikimedia Login, which was also used in Wikimedia Space).
You could post them from an import-bot-account, and note in a standard header sentence (above the original text) the original author / WM login / URL / date.
